Leon John Marsh, 86, of Nashua, NH and a former longtime resident of Holliston, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, November 19, 2017. Born and raised in Framingham, he was the son of the late Frances (Stewart) and Leon T. Marsh. He was the husband of 42 years to the late Irene (Langevin) Marsh who passed away in 1993 and the late Marlene (Mattscheck) Marsh of 14 years who passed away in 2010.
Leon was a Veteran of the Massachusetts National Guard, where he had served for ten years. After 42 years of employment, he retired from General Motors in 1991. He was an avid gardener and a lifetime member of the Holliston Sportsmen’s Association, and the Mr. & Mrs. Club at St. Mary’s Church, where he was also a co-president for one year.
Leon is survived by his children, Colleen O’Brien and her significant other Bob Fusco of Nashua, NH, Christopher Marsh of Worcester, his step-children, Tony Mattscheck and his wife Cathy of Douglas, Brad Mattscheck and his wife Carol of Milford, Peg Novick and her husband Bob of AZ; his brother, Robert Marsh and his wife Ruth of FL; 7 grandchildren, Kirsten, Dereck, Samantha, Ross, David, Abbey and Brian; as well as 5 step-grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his son, Brian Marsh and two sisters, Barbara Welch and Evelyn Hall.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 21st from 4:00-7:00p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. (Rt. 16) www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 22nd at St. Mary’s Church of Holliston. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Myelodysplasia Syndrome, MDS Foundations, mds-foundation.org.
