Langdon Warren Goddard Jr., 78, of Framingham, formerly of Waltham, MA, died on December 8, 2008, at the home of his daughter, with his wife of 51 years, and daughters at his side. He was the beloved husband of Phyllis A (Parlee) Goddard, devoted father of daughters, Cynthia D. Davison of Framingham and Deanna K. Norton of Holliston, MA. He was the proud grandfather of Joshua and Ryan Pennie, Blake, Laura and Maxwell Davison, all of Framingham, and Sean, Thomas, Daniel and Brooke Norton of Holliston, MA. He was the father in law to Brian Davison of Framingham, and Kevin Norton of Holliston. He also leaves his niece, Bonnie Goddard, of Waltham, MA.
Born January 31, 1930, in Waltham, MA, he was the son of the late Langdon W. Goddard and the late Alice (Ross) Goddard, of Waltham, MA. He was the brother of the late Richard R. Goddard, of Oakmont, PA. Warren attended Waltham schools and graduated from Waltham High in 1948. He then left for Fort Lewis, Washington, where he served in the US Army. After returning from the service, he attended Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, MA, studying electronics and graduated in 1952. In his early career he worked for Lincoln Labs at MIT. He than went on to work at RCA in Burlington,MA and was part of the team that worked on the Lunar landing radar, for the Apollo space missions, in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. Later in his career, he worked at Fenwall -Kiddie Corporation, in Ashland, MA, where he retired from, in 1995.
After his retirement, he was able to spend more of his time, doing the things he enjoyed most, which included, working in his garden, taking walks by the lake and vacationing in Maine and Cape Cod with his family. Over the years he was an active member in his church, from teaching Sunday school classes, serving on the church board of directors and as church treasurer, to reaching out to ailing church members, he continued on as an active member at The Church of The Nazarene in Framingham, in his retirement ,until his own health declined.
Warren was a friend to who ever needed one and a faithful, devoted Christian. He loved his Lord and lived by his faith and considered this life’s most important work, other than his love of and interest in, his wonderful family’s lives. In the later years, his family’s love was that which supported him, in his journey with Parkinson’s disease.
