Kenneth Robert Rule, 74, of Milford, passed away on October 1, 2023, surrounded by family following a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Ken was born and raised in Queens, New York, the son of the late Elinor (Koehler) and Frank Rule. Ken bravely served his country in the Vietnam War with valor from 1968 to 1970. He later moved to Long Island, New York, where he worked in the banking industry for more than 30 years. After retiring from Chase Manhattan Bank in 2004, Ken relocated to Dacula, Georgia where he lived for ten years before settling in Milford, Massachusetts in 2013.
Ken’s greatest source of pride and joy was his family. Ken is survived by his wife, Lucille V. (Wilkinson) Rule of Milford, whom he married in 1999 and who was his love, partner, and companion for the past 24 years. He is also survived by his six children and their spouses– Ian Rule and his wife, Rosa; Clodagh Drummey and her husband, John; Lucas Rule and his husband, Varun; Murphy Rule and his wife, Linette; Jasmine Gillis and her husband, Tom; and Michelle Urquhart; and seven grandchildren– Azules and Sean Rule; Maera and Amelia Drummey; Noah Gillis; and Kenley and Abigail Rule; along with his two sisters, Patricia Rule; and Eileen Kirkwood and her husband, Tim. He is predeceased by his first wife, Deborah (Bischof) Rule, who passed in 1992.
Ken was a reflective man with a great appreciation for language and words. His trademark sharp, dry wit, shared by his father Frank, made many laugh out loud through the years. He was an avid reader of mysteries and loved listening to classic rock music with thoughtful lyrics. Some of his favorite artists included Jackson Browne and James Taylor. He was happiest at the beach in Aruba– swimming, reading in the sun and enjoying time with his family. He loved watching baseball, football, and basketball with his sons, wife, and daughters, and spending time with his dog, Casey.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 5th from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Hopkinton, 57 Hayden Rowe St. A funeral home service will follow at 6:00 p.m.
Flowers may be sent to Chesmore Funeral Home or donations in his name may be made to the Salvation Army, www.salvationarmyusa.org, or to the Alzheimer’s Association, alz.org.
