Holliston-

Kathryn M. (Murphy) Phelan, 65, of Holliston, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Newton Wellesley Hospital. Born in Framingham, she was the daughter of the late Kathryn (Casey) and John “Jack” Murphy and was also predeceased by two aunts, Mary and Helen Casey, all of whom resided in the “Mudville” section of Holliston.

Kathy was a member of the National Honor Society with the Holliston High School graduating class of 1965. She was a resident of California for over 30 years before moving back to Massachusetts in 2013. Kathy was a strong advocate for any and all animals in need; providing a home to countless rescue strays.

She is survived by her godchild, Nathan Fletcher and his wife Megan and great-godchildren, Bridgett and Kathryn Fletcher all of Millis; as well as many other friends who will greatly miss her.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 1st at 10:30a.m. at St. Mary’s Church of Holliston with burial to follow in the Parish Cemetery.
