Holliston-
Joyce Ellin Bates, 77, of Holliston, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at the Mary Ann Morse Nursing Home in Natick. Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Lurena (Lane) O’Donnell. She was the wife of David Bates of Holliston.

Joyce was a retired nurse who had worked at the Timothy Daniels House in Holliston and as a childcare provider in town. She was also a member of the writer’s club at the Holliston Senior Center.

Besides her husband of 52 years, she is survived by her daughters, Ellin Austin and her husband Joe of Holliston, Barbara Venezia and her husband Bob of Holliston; 4 siblings, Larry O’Donnell of FL., Michael O’Donnell of MO., Dian Clay of CA., and Mark Clay of FL. She also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, Bob and his wife Shanna, Amanda, Bryan, and Nicole Venezia, and Michael and Katherine Austin.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 1:00p.m. at Lake Grove Cemetery in Holliston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holliston Pantry Shelf, 23 Water St. #1F Holliston, MA. 01746 or to a local animal shelter.
