John R. Spera, 79, of Holliston, passed away at his home on Saturday, May 25, 2024. Born in Brookline, and raised in Needham, he was the son of the late Harriet (Coveney) and H. John Spera. He leaves his wife Jean (Hasselbrack) Spera.
John enjoyed living in Mudville where he hiked the woods with his canine companion Sandy. He liked fishing on Lake Winthrop in his fishing boat. He loved riding his motorcycle. John always left people and places better than he found them. He was employed by Tecomet, formerly Thermo-Electron for many years in precision chemical and mechanical engineering. John was a problem solver. But mostly John loved quiet times with his family and listening to Italian opera.
He is survived by his children, Jeremy Spera of Danvers, Jason Spera and his spouse, Quinn of Turners Falls, MA., and John Spera of Milford. He also leaves behind his siblings, Judy Croken of Davie, FL, and Paul Spera of Framingham; 6 grandchildren, Lucy, Lana, Lily, Genevieve, Christian, and Giovanni; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Church of Holliston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, heart.org Arrangements are under the care of the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston.
