John Joseph Folkes, 62, of Holliston died yesterday Wednesday, June, 25, 2003 at his home surrounded by family. A Holliston Resident since 1963. He is the son of Esther Folkes of Hudson, MA and the late Warren Folkes. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Beverly Folkes of Holliston

John had retired from the Framingham Post Office in November of 2002 after completing 40 years of service. He was active in the N.A.L.C. union and the First Baptist Church of Holliston. He enjoyed his summer home on Lake Winnipesaukee in NH., He also enjoyed the outdoors, nature, reading, and spending time with his family.

Besides his wife and mother he is survived by 2 sons John Bradley Folkes and his wife Maria of Canton, MA, and Brian Pendleton Folkes and his wife Kathryn of Hebron, CT. 2 Daughters; Jeanne Elaine Praetsch and her husband Steven of Holliston, and Deborah Lynn DeGregorio and her husband Erik of Southborough, MA.. 3 Brothers; Warren Folkes of Auburn, MA, Kenneth Folkes of Needham, and Donald Folkes of Southborough 10 Grandchildren; Ashley and Trevor Praetsch, Mathew and Nathan DeGregorio, Nicholas, Christina, Yanni, Tyler, Olivia and Connor Folkes. He also leaves 3 nieces and 3 nephews. He was loved by many other children on his route.

Visitation hours will be held on Friday June 27, 2003 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm at the Chesmore Funeral Home, 854 Washington St. (Rt. 16) Holliston. A funeral service will take place on Saturday June 28, 2003 at 11:00 am in the First Baptist Church of Holliston (40 High St.) Burial will follow at Lake Grove Cemetery in Holliston. In Lieu of flowers donation in his memory may be made to the First Baptist Church of Holliston, 40 High St., Holliston, MA 01746
