John Michael Keane “JK”, 76, of Ashland, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Massachusetts General Hospital. He was the devoted husband of 47 years to Anna (Interrante) Keane of Ashland, formerly of Chelsea. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Mary (Shea) and James F. Keane of Jamaica Plain.
John was an avid car racing fan, driver, sponsor, and owner. He was a member of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), National Hot Rod Association (NHRA), Northeastern Midget Association (NEMA), NASCAR, and the Hundred Club. He enjoyed boating and is a former member and good friend of the Orient Heights Yacht Club.
Besides his wife, John is survived by his children, Kellie Keane and Andrew Payson of Salem, John Keane Jr. of Marlborough, Shannon Keane St. Germain and her husband Michael of Blacksburg, VA, and a sister, Paula Teeling and her husband Ed of Manchester, Vermont. He also leaves behind a grandson, Jonathan St. Germain and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a brother, James F. Keane Jr.
A born entrepreneur and salesman, John started his long career selling high performance auto parts and later became the owner of New England Speed Equipment in Allston. He loved to work and did so tirelessly at the business he and his son started, Marine Engines in Holliston.
John will be long remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, generosity, and kindness.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 27, from 4-8 pm, Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. (Rt. 16) 01746. www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com A funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday, October 28, 11:00 am, St. Mary’s Church of Holliston. A reception will be held at Restaurant 45 in Medway following the funeral mass.
