John Wadewitz, 82, of Holliston, MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Friday December 16, 2022.  Born in New Rochelle, New York, he was the only child of Maija Niinimaa and Kurt Wadewitz.  He was the beloved husband of 54 years of Norma (Morse) Wadewitz of Holliston, MA.

Though born in New Rochelle, New York, John was a true New Englander.  While growing up in Killingly, Connecticut on his parents’ farm, John proudly attended the local “two room” elementary school and graduated from Killingly High School.  He attended Boston University and graduated with high honors with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.

A generally self-made man, John worked his way up to become the purchasing agent at Brigham’s Inc in Arlington, MA.  He truly loved working at Brigham’s Inc and enjoyed spending time with his co-workers both at and outside of work.  While not at work, he treasured his time with his wife and daughter Kirstin as well as tinkering in his “Yankee Workshop”.

After retirement, John embarked on his next journey – rebuilding his beloved cottage on Lake Alexander in Dayville, CT.  He spent his summers at the cottage taking saunas, teaching friends and family how to sail, and swimming with his best friend and granddaughter, Kacie.

John will be remembered for his positive outlook on life and his treasured handmade annual Christmas gifts.  We love you John!  “Keep Smiling!”

John is survived by his wife, Norma, his daughter, Kirstin Wadewitz and her husband, Christopher Flock of Acton, MA, his granddaughter, Kacie Flock, his brother-in-law, Richard Morse and his wife, Linda, and sister-in-law, Sandra Carmel and her husband, Bernard. He also leaves behind much loved niece, nephews, and their children.

A celebration of John’s life will be held in the Spring of 2023.  A donation in his memory may be made to Milford Regional Healthcare Foundation, Attn: Palliative Care, 14 Prospect Street, Milford MA 01757.

John Wadewitz lives on in the hearts and minds of his loving family and friends.  Thoughts of him will always “bring a smile to our face”.
