Holliston-
John F. McCarthy, 81, of Holliston, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2012 at the MetroWest Medical Center in Natick. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Nora (Ahearn) and John F. McCarthy Sr. He was the husband of the late Barbara A. McCarthy who passed in 2005.

A Sergeant in the Air Force, John was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict, and was a telephone worker for 40 years. He was a member of the Sons of Erin Irish club in West Yarmouth. John enjoyed traveling to Marco Island, FL. and time spent at his Dennisport home, where he enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by one son, Jack McCarthy and his wife Dianne, of Holliston, two daughters, Ellen Bandera and her husband Robert of Marshfield, and Mary Billert and her husband Sean of Center Conway, NH; 4 siblings, Edward McCarthy and his wife Anne of Norwood, Elizabeth Maleiko of Walpole, Sister Mary Dionetta (Frances) McCarthy of Brighton, and Mary Gagnon of Connecticut. He also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, Kyle, Allison, Kalin, Alexandra, John R., and Julie. He is pre-deceased by a son Robert Joseph McCarthy, as well as a grandson, Stephen.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 25, 2012 from 4-7p.m.at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30a.m. at St. Mary’s Church of Holliston.
