John Charles Gatti Sr., 74, of Franklin and formerly of Holliston, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Mass General Hospital in Boston surrounded by his family. Born in Racine, WI, he was the son of the late Inez (Bingham) and Joseph Gatti. He was the husband of 52 years to Carole (Giangregorio) Gatti of Franklin.
John was a resident of Holliston for 37 years before moving to Franklin 8 years ago. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy and served from 1958-1963 aboard the USS Allagash. He was a Pipefitter and was a member of the Boston Local 537 Pipefitter’s Union for 50 years, a member of the Holliston Auxiliary Police for 19 years, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and a Civil War Reenactment Solider. After his retirement, he worked part-time at Holliston True Value Hardware where he was well known for his sense of humor. He also enjoyed performing with the Washington Street Players.
Besides his wife, John is survived by his son, John C. Gatti Jr. and his wife Carolyn of Weymouth, MA; his daughter, Andrea Palladino and her husband James of Medway; 5 grandchildren, Jaclyn, Vincent and Nicholas Gatti and Gianna and Alyssa Palladino. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his siblings, Joseph Gatti, Mary Ellen Gatti, and Jean Louise Keranen.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 11th from 3-7p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home, 854 Washington St. (Rt. 16) www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:30a.m. at St. Mary’s Church of Holliston. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
