Hopkinton

James Robert Danahy, 88, of Hopkinton died Wednesday December 27, 2006 at the Metrowest Medical Center in Framingham. Born in Hopkinton he was the son of the late Mary (Daley) and Dennis Danahy. He was also the husband of the late Margaret (O’Connell) Danahy who passed away February of 1982.

A Navy veteran of WW II, He had served in the South Pacific and European campaigns. Mr Danahy was an active member of the Hopkinton American Legion – Post 202 and a life ling resident of Hopkinton and a member of Saint Johns Church of Hopkinton. He was also a graduate of Northeastern, past Hopkinton Library Trustee, past member of the ZBA, and a member of the Hopkinton Historical Society. He also enjoyed providing transportation for seniors to get to their appointments.

He is survived by 1 son; James T. Danahy and his wife Dale, a daughter; Peggy Stewart and her husband Andrew, 1 sister Helen Catherine Sullivan, 6 grandchildren; Daniel, Brian and Meghan Stewart, Nicholas, Kelley, and Alex Danahy all of Hopkinton. He also leaves 1 niece and 3 nephews.

Visitation hours will be held on Monday January 1, 2007 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Hopkinton, 57 Hayden Rowe St. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 am in Saint John’s Church of Hopkinton. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery of Hopkinton. Donations may be made in his memory to the American Legion, 80 Main St., Hopkinton, MA 01748
