James Goodman, 91, of Holliston and formerly of New London, CT passed away unexpectedly at his home on June 16, 2024.

James (Jim) was born on April 28, 1933, in New London, the son of Eva and Nathan Goodman. He grew up on Plant Street and attended Harbor School, The Milford School, and the Warton School of the University of Pennsylvania where he earned a business degree in 1955.

Following college, Jim returned to New London and entered his family’s men’s clothing business, Goodson’s. He worked tirelessly growing the business, working six days and two evenings a week. In his later years, he owned and operated Picture Perfect, a photo processing lab in Westerly, RI. In 2017, he relocated to Holliston to be nearer his children and grandchildren.

Jim had many hobbies and interests in addition to photography, including boating and sailing, deep sea fishing, listening to classical and popular music, reading National Geographic and WWII magazines, and traveling. He was a staunch New York Yankees and Giants fan, proudly wearing his team apparel despite his eventual move to Red Sox country. He adored a multitude of dogs during his lifetime, both pure and mixed-breed rescues. Jim always lived up to his name and truly was a “good man”. He will be remembered as a kind, gentle soul who was honest and fair to his customers and employees and in his business practice; a man of his word. He was a hard-working breadwinner with a strong work ethic.

Jim is survived by his beloved family: daughter, Susan (Chip) Horowitz of Millis, son, Mark (Jennifer) Goodman, of Boynton Beach, FL; son, Adam (Lora) Goodman of Medway; granddaughter, Elyse (Kerry) Reef of Wellesley; granddaughter, Rachel Horowitz of Waltham; granddaughter, Adina (Max) Dyer of Manchester, NH; grandson, Jordan Goodman of Lantana, FL; grandson, Evan Goodman of Medway; granddaughter, Anna Goodman of Medway, and his great-granddaughter, Sloane Reef of Wellesley.

Donations in Jim’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice with a preference for an organization associated with Israel.
