Holliston – James D. Houle, 83, died unexpectedly on Saturday, January 24, 2004.
He was the husband of Shirley (McManus) Houle. They would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on Tuesday, January 27.
Born in Framingham her was the son of the late Peter and Margaret (Callahan) Houle.
A resident of Holliston for 57 years he had been active in the community and was currently an active participant at the Holliston Senior Center. He especially loved singing and dancing. Mr. Houle was retired from Digital Equipment Corporation.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII. He had been stationed on the USS SC-1374 and USS Jicarilla. He received the WWII Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal-2 stars and the Good Conduct Medal.
Beside his wife Mr. Houle is survived by his daughters, Shirley Cote of Westford and Peggy Cote of Groton; grandchildren, Jason Cote of Westford and Julie, LJ and Michelle Cote of Groton and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Edmund and Joseph Houle and Rita Chaisson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 28 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Washington St., Holliston. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Holliston.
Visiting hours will be Wednesday, Jan. 27 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home, 854 Washington St., Route 16, Holliston.
In lieu of flowers donations in Mr. Houle’s memory may be made to the Holliston Senior Center Support Fund, 150 Goulding St., Holliston, MA 01746
