James Austin Cyphers, 79, died peacefully at home with his family by his side. Born in Buffalo N.Y., he was the son of the late Faye(Corwin) and Norman J. Cyphers. He was the husband of nearly 50 years to Ruth (Galbraith) Cyphers.
Jim had worked for Air Products & Chem. of Marlborough for more than 40 years, and was known to many as the “General”. He was the original organizer of the Massachusetts Baystate BassMasters, and was an avid fisherman, gardener, and bird watcher; he also had a passion for reading. Jim volunteered countless hours at the First Congregational Church of Holliston, and was active with the Holliston Senior Center, and Audubon Society.
Besides his wife, James is survived by his children, James Cyphers Jr., Tammi, Dean, Robert Cyphers and Leanne (Cyphers) Small. He also leaves behind four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his siblings, Robert Dean Cyphers and Norma Jean Weeks.
