Harry J. Thomas, Jr., loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully in his home in Redondo Beach, CA on November 28th, 2021, at the age of 98. His cherished wife of 69 years, Ellen Woodbury Thomas predeceased him in October 2014 due to ovarian cancer. Their beloved daughter Barbara E. Thomas predeceased them in 1974 due to cystic fibrosis. Harry’s cherished sister Margaret Thomas Smith and brother Lawrence Thomas also predeceased him.

Harry served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and worked for Raytheon as an electronics engineer for over 40 years. Ellen was a stay-at-home mom and then a book keeper and realtor. They raised their family in Holliston, MA, where they resided for over 35 years. They retired to Sanford, ME and eventually to Surprise, AZ. Harry and Ellen had a love of traveling and after retirement their world travel included Asia, Africa, Europe and North and South America.

They are survived by their loving daughter Diane Thomas Maeda, her husband Rennie and daughter Zoe of Manhattan Beach CA., nephew Douglas T. Smith and his wife Susan of Walpole, MA, niece Susan Tuttle and her husband Harold of Waynesville, OH, and many other relatives and friends.

A graveside memorial service for Ellen and Harry will be held on June 25th at 11AM at Lake Grove Cemetery, 1450 Highland St., Holliston, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: cff.org (Cystic Fibrosis Foundation); ocrahope.org (Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance); or kidney.org (National Kidney Foundation).
