Holliston –
Gerald A. MacIsaac, aged 80, died peacefully Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Leonard Morse Hospital. He and his adoring and devoted wife of 56 years, Aileen C. MacIsaac, who passed away just last fall, were residents of Holliston since 1963. Gerald was born to John and Sarah MacIsaac of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, where he was raised. After meeting his wife, they moved to the States in 1954.
Gerald was the loving father of three children, David and his wife Lisa of Phoenix, Alan, who sadly left us in 1967, and Carole and her husband Stephen Geer of Franklin. He was a wonderful and caring grandfather, dearly loved by seven grandchildren: Kirsten, Corina, Angela, and Ian MacIsaac; and Cameron, Kyle, and Andrew Geer. Gerald leaves behind his brother Owen and his wife Sheila. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Douglas.
Gerald spent two years in the U.S. Army and then began a lifelong career as a machinist and toolmaker. During his retired years, he was an avid reader and cribbage player, wonderful grandkid entertainer, and an active participant at the Holliston Senior Center where he enjoyed his “exercise class”.
Gerald’s lifelong priority was to be the best husband, father, and grandfather possible. He succeeded. He was a shining example to all who knew him of someone who truly put family above all else.
Visiting hours will be held from 4:00-7:00pm on Saturday, Aug. 9th at the Chesmore Funeral Home, 854 Washington St, Holliston. The funeral service will be Sunday, Aug. 10th at 11:00am at the First Congregational Church in Holliston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holliston Senior Center, 150 Goulding Street, Holliston, MA, 01746.
