Fredrick Berger, 94, of Hopkinton, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2015. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Helena R. (Soloman) and Carleton K. Berger. He was the loving husband of the late Pauline (Soroka) Berger who passed away in 1980.

Fred had worked at Crandall Hicks Company as a Salesman. He loved spending time with his family and was an avid Bruins Fan. He enjoyed playing hockey until he as 86 years old and had last played with the Rusty Blades, based in Worcester. He loved traveling to Santa Rose, CA to play in Charles Schulz’s Snoopy Hockey Tournament for a number of years.

Fred will be forever cherished and greatly missed by his daughter, Nancy Miller of Hopkinton; his grandchildren, Cassandra Place and her husband Keith of Clinton, Derek Miller of Northborough, Scott Miller and his longtime girlfriend Courtney Sweeney of Hopkinton, and Heather Leon of Whitinsville. He also leaves behind 4 great-grandchildren, Kylie Mayne-Place, Elijah and Issaac Leon, and Jeremiah Place as well as his nephew Steven Tracy. He was preceded in death by his brother, Soloman.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 5th from 5-8p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Hopkinton, 57 Hayden Rowe St. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Friday, February 6th at 11:00a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Hopkinton. Expressions of sympathy in Fred’s memory may be made to the Boston Bruins Foundation, 100 Legends Way, Boston, MA 02114 or to National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, P.O.
