PAWLEY’S ISLAND, S.C. – Emily (Campbell) Wilmarth, 82, of Pawley’s Island, S.C., formerly of Medway, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007, at her summer home in Wolfeboro, N.H., surrounded by her immediate family.
She was the wife of Warren H. Wilmarth for 62 years. They were married in 1946.
Born in San Diego, daughter of the late Chester F. and Martha (Bugeja) Campbell, she spent most of her life in Medway, including a period as the town Visiting Nurse. She was a graduate of Medway High School and a registered nurse, having graduated from Worcester Nursing College in 1945.
Throughout her life, her pride and joy was expressed in her deep and enduring commitment to family, friends and neighbors. Her pleasures were always most evident in her care and compassion for others, and in her sincere embrace of fellow travelers encountered during her many travels across country and the world.
Besides her husband, she leaves her children, Stephen H. Wilmarth and his wife, Margaret E. Gleeson, of Westbrook, Conn., Russell F. Wilmarth and his wife, Francine, of Hooksett, N.H., and Joan C. Wilmarth of Esperance, N.Y.; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Laurie Miner and her husband, Cameron, and their children, Abigail and Sydney; Bonnie Wilmarth; Lauren Baker; Matthew Baker and his wife, Vanessa, and Regan Wilmarth and her husband, Victor, and their children, Tristan and Cayden.
She was the mother of Edward D. Wilmarth, who died August 15, 2006.
A funeral service will be held Monday, Oct. 22, at 10 a.m., at Medway Community Church, 193 Main St., West Medway.
Visiting hours will be held Sunday, Oct. 21, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Chesmore Funeral Home, 854 Washington St. (Rte. 126), Holliston.
Instead of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory be made to the Lance Armstrong LiveStrong Foundation, the Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation, or the Children’s Miracle Network.
