Holliston – Ellen M. Stone, 80, died Monday, Jan. 26, at her home surrounded by her family following a brief illness . She was the cherished wife of Kenneth Stone, Sr. for 54 years.

Born in New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Myra (McGuirk)
Bonitz. She was a graduate of Fitchburg State College, where she excelled in both the classroom and athletics. She taught in the Lunenburg school system prior to raising her family.

A resident of Holliston for 50 years, she had been active in many community activities. “Bonnie” was a communicant and eucharistic minister of St. Mary’s Church and a member and past officer of St. Mary’s Guild. She was involved in many charitable organizations, and hosted an annual party for children with special needs. She was also the first commissioner of the Holliston Girls Youth Softball league. She loved watching her Patriots and Red Sox. One of her favorite hobbies was creating and donating floral arrangements. She was a friend to all and will be especially missed by her daily morning church group.
Besides her husband she is survived by her sons, Alan Stone of Holliston, Kenneth Stone, Jr. of Milford, Steve Stone of Holliston, Kevin Stone of Medway and Larry Stone of Holliston; daughters, Myra Brazil and Ellie Harrington of Holliston and Lorri Petinge of Medway; brothers, Bob Bonitz of Fitchburg and Ed Bonitz of Ashburnham; sisters, Myra Cannon of Fitchburg, Arlene Bentley of Delaware and Peggy Leary of Fitchburg. She was the sister of the late Ray Bonitz. She is also survived by 23 loving grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, Washington St.,
Holliston on Friday, Jan. 30, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Lake Grove Cemetery, Holliston.

Visiting hours, at the Chesmore Funeral Home, 854 Washington St., Route 16, Holliston, will be Thursday, Jan. 29, from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
