Elizabeth R. “Betty” (Gay) Pomfred, 73, of Holliston, died Friday June 8, 2007 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston after a sudden illness.

She was the wife of the late Joseph M. Pomfred, mother of the late John Pomfred, Steven Pomfred, and grandmother of the late Justin Pomfred.

She is survived by her children Paul Pomfred of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Karen Hubbard of Turks & Caicos Islands, Thomas Pomfred of East Bridgewater, Christine Pomfred and David Pomfred, both of Holliston.

Her grandchildren: Melissa, Gregory, Edward, Tyler, Ryan, Shannon, Jason, Sharon, Jonathan, Stephanie, Steven, and great grandchild Matthew.

Born in Tewskbury to Celine Gay, she was later reared by the late Neil and Helen Mahoney of Holliston.

Betty lovingly raised her seven children, and loved spending time with family. She especially enjoyed playing scrabble, and dining out with her friends Kathy, Rita, and Lee. She at one time was crowned ?Queen of Mudville’ in recognition for being a compassionate, loving neighbor, and friend to all. She had a sweet spirit, a wonderful sense of humor, and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation hours will be on Tuesday June 12, 2007 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. (Rt. 16) Holliston. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday June 13, 2007 at 10:00 am in Saint Marys Church of Holliston. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cardiac Care Unit/Brigham and Womens Hospital, 75 Francis St. Boston, MA 02115
