Holliston-
Elizabeth Stillings Brooks, 54, of Holliston, passed away at her home, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, November 8, 2016. Born in Bellefonte, PA, Beth was the daughter of Suzanne (Littlefield) and Bruce Stillings of Falmouth, Maine. She was the wife of 31 years to Robert Brooks of Holliston.
Beth grew up in Maryland and New Jersey, but always considered herself a native of Maine, as that is where her family roots are. She was a 1980 graduate of Kinnelon High School in New Jersey and a 1984 graduate of Colby College, with a BA in English and Sociology. Beth worked in Publishing at Allyn and Bacon as a Developmental Editor for many years before becoming a freelance editor and writer. For the past several years, she assisted students with college essays, provided tutoring for SATs and ACTs and was a longtime volunteer at the Holliston Food Pantry.
Beth was an avid reader who loved traveling and spending time at the beach in Maine where she found joy and comfort during her brave battle with cancer. She was a devoted and loving wife and mom, and a caring friend who never wanted to be the center of attention, but quietly did so much for so many.
Besides her husband and her parents, Beth is survived by her three children, Meghan Brooks of Brooklyn, NY, Katie Brooks and Jack Brooks of Holliston. She also leaves behind her siblings, Michael Stillings and his wife Dawn of Cumberland, ME, Kate Stillings and her husband Matt van den Hengel of Jersey City, NJ, and Chrisanne Douglas and her husband Brian of Westford, MA. She also leaves many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and loving friends.
