Holliston-

Eligio G. Coniglio, 81, of Holliston, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014. Born in Italy, he was the son of the late Fiorentina Coniglio. He was the husband of Antonietta (Ubaldino) Coniglio of Holliston.

Born in Bivongi, Reggio Calabria, Italy, Eligio was a member of the Italian Club in Wellesley and in 1963, had started as an Italian Disc Jockey, working as a radio announcer for WILD Radio Station. He brought many popular Italian music acts to the Boston community and enjoyed putting on many local shows. Eligio was an advocate for the Italian community and helped as an ambassador for many Italians. He then later worked in photo restorations and photography.

Besides his wife, he is survived by 3 children, Florence M. DiFilippo and her husband Thomas of Framingham, Remo B. Coniglio of Framingham, and Eligio J. Coniglio and his wife Samantha of Northborough; a brother, Pasquale Coniglio and his wife Georgette of Ashland; 4 grandchildren, Leah and Julia Powell, and Isabella and Eligio Coniglio. He also leaves a son-in-law, Bob Powell of Holliston and he is predeceased by his daughter, Linda Powell who passed away in 2003.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 30th from 4-7pm at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 31st at 9:00a.m. at St. Mary’s Church of Holliston. Burial will take place at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Natick. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either Wayside Hospice, 266 Cochituate Rd.
