Eleanor Elizabeth Brooks

January 1, 1970 - July 29, 2015

Share your Memorial with Family & Friends

Mrs. Brooks touched our lives in so many ways as children in Holliston. I used to see her at church with that lovely smile thinking how pretty she was and wishing to be like her - so intelligent, so caring, so giving of herself to others. What a legacy she leaves with us to perpetuate. The "MacDonald girls" will miss her.

The ever present impish smile, the kitchen filled with appetite whetting aromas, the true love of a simple agrarian way of life for the benefit of her family & friends…these are the indelible characteristics that Maureen and I have talked about numerous times, especially when trading Christmas cards with Mrs. Brooks. As denoted by her educational achievements at such a young age, Mrs. Brooks had an uncanny ability to discern the truth from fiction! How many times did Phil and all of us try to BS her, after which she'd flash that "all knowing" smile & reply "isn't that nice". We knew, and she certainly knew, we were up to mischief; the smile was the message! We're all better off for your friendship, tutelage, and caring. Rest in Peace, Mrs. Brooks!

Eleanor was an inspiration to us in so many ways. Her quiet, calm demeanor belied a strong, independent woman whose opinions were valued! Several years ago we were in awe of Eleanor standing in the middle of Rte 126 waving her apron to get her cows back to their pasture across street. We will miss this remarkable woman.
