Donald Herbert Peters, 81, of Southborough, passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 31, 2022. Born in Waukegan, Illinois, he was the son of the late Hilda (Dickerson) and Paul Erwin Peters. He was the husband of 59 years to Judith Eggleston Peters.  

Don earned a Bachelor in Physics (University of Rochester), a Masters in Business (University of Pittsburgh), and a PhD in Business (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). Don worked 30 years for EG & G in Wellesley, retiring as a Vice President. He was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Area Church in Sherborn, MA and was involved with the church’s finances. He taught the Great Decisions program, a community education program focused on foreign affairs. Don enjoyed music and especially enjoyed playing the piano and singing. He coached youth soccer and was an active member of the Sherborn Yacht Club. Don enjoyed camping, hiking, golfing, loved to travel and most importantly cherished time spent with his family.  

In addition to his wife, Don is survived by two sons, Christopher Paul Peters and his wife Mary Pat Laverty Peters of Hillsboro, OR, and Stephen Leslie Peters and his wife Mary Linton Thompson Peters of Cambridge, MA. He also leaves behind his brother, David Peters and his wife Elinor Lynde Peters of Lake Elmore, VT; as well as three grandchildren, Alaina Rose Peters of Cincinnati, OH, Shaun Christopher Peters of Bellingham, WA and Ryan Patrick Peters of Bel Air, MD.  

A celebration of Don’s life will be held Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 11am at the Unitarian Universalist Area Church in Sherborn, MA. Service will be live-streamed via www.uuac.org. Arrangements are under the care of the Chesmore Funeral Home of Hopkinton, www.chesmorefuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in remembrance of Don to the American Brain Foundation whose mission is “Life without brain disease” https://www.americanbrainfoundation.org/
