Donald (Bud) Rawson, 89, a lifelong resident of Holliston, died peacefully on Monday, September 19, 2011 at Medway Country Manor in Medway. He was the son of the late Welby and Hazel (Kay) Rawson and the devoted husband of Jean (Burroughs) Rawson for over 65 years.

Donald was a 1940 graduate of Holliston High School and was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, serving in the Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central European Campaigns. Following his return from Army service, he joined his father in the plumbing and heating business and was the plumbing and gas inspector for the town of Holliston for over 40 years. He was a member of the Holliston Fire Department for over 35 years and served as the first full-time fire chief until his retirement in 1991.

Donald was a member of the American Legion Post #47 and the VFW Post #8507 for many years, as well as a member of the Evergreen Lodge of Odd Fellows. He enjoyed gardening and spending time at his summer home on Cape Cod.

Donald is survived by his sons, Donald and his wife, Lorraine of Holliston, Jeremy and his wife, Carla of Marlboro, and his daughter, Anne and her husband, John Hatch of Medway. He was the adored grandfather of Jeffrey Rawson, Christopher and Allison Hatch and step-grandfather to Joshua Victor. He was the loving brother of the late Ruth Reid.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 23, 2011 from 6-8p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com A funeral home service will take place on Saturday at 10:00a.m. with burial to follow in Lake Grove Cemetery in Holliston.
