Hopedale and formerly Holliston-

Christopher Robert Murphy, 54, of Hopedale and formerly of Holliston and Brockton, passed away at his home unexpectedly on Monday, December 21, 2020. Born in Boston, he was the son of Betty (Brown) Murphy of Holliston and the late Robert G. Murphy. He was the husband of 29 years to Dana (Toppa) Murphy of Hopedale.

Chris was a fierce competitor, an avid Boston sports fan, and loved coaching all three of his son’s teams. However, Chris’s prized possessions were the relationships he built with family and friends.

Besides his wife, Chris is survived by three sons, Ryan Murphy and his wife, Andi of Brewster, Brennan Murphy of Brighton, and Michael Murphy of Hopedale. He also leaves behind his siblings, Matt Murphy and his wife, Jessica of Mount Pleasant, SC, Carole (Murphy) Kallas and her husband, Matt of North Kingstown, RI, Kevin Murphy and his wife, Tracy of Hopkinton,  Meghann (Murphy) Remick and her husband, Frank of Lexington, Nancy (Murphy) Carroll and her husband, Eric of Norton, and the entire Toppa family,  who considered him one of their own. Many nieces and nephews, on top of countless friends who he considered family, will also miss him. Chris was looking forward to the arrival of his first grandchild this upcoming year.

Visitation will be held Monday, December 28th from 4:00pm – 7:00pm  at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. All who feel comfortable are welcome to attend. A funeral mass will be held privately due to the current covid-19 restrictions.

Chris felt especially blessed this holiday season, and had been carrying out his own random acts of kindness. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you consider paying it forward and choose a charity or person of your choice.
