It is with great sadness that the family of Bruce Barnes, 67, of Holliston, announce his passing on Monday, February 11, 2019. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Ann (Brice) and Stanley Barnes. He was the husband of Stephanie (Gavegnano) Barnes of Holliston.

Bruce was a loving husband and proud father of four children. He graduated from Maine Central Institute and began working with the Department of Corrections for many years. When he wasn’t working, Bruce enjoyed family trips in the summers to Maine, visiting casinos for “Larry the Lobster,” and teaching everyone how to swim, fish, and enjoy a bonfire. He enjoyed watching his children grow up and play in their sports games throughout the years.

Bruce was known for his long entertaining stories, which he loved to repeat often.

He brought energy to any room he entered with his smile and sarcastic personality. Bruce lived the way he said we all should live; he wrote his own rules, stood up to authority, and paved his own way.  He was a rare combination of someone who had a love of life, and a firm understanding of what was important; the simplicity of living a life with those you loved.

Bruce was preceded in death by his father, Stanley, and his mother, Ann. He is survived by his wife Stephanie, his four children, Amanda, Cynthia, Christopher, Noelle and granddaughter, Sawyer. He also leaves behind his brother Brice Barnes and his wife Judy Barnes.

In keeping with the wishes of Bruce, a private family service will be held. Arrangements are under the care of the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com
