Hopkinton-
Beth Lavoie passed away peacefully on June 19, 2021, lovingly surrounded by her family at her home of 41 years in Hopkinton, MA. Born on March 2, 1951 in Syracuse, New York, Beth was the first of five children of the late Dolores (Reynolds) and Edward Burke. She and her late husband, Leo Lavoie, were married for 36 years.
Beth treasured spending time in Chatham, MA, where she created a second home filled with wonderful memories. Amazingly kind and empathetic, Beth naturally put people at ease and had a way of making them feel cared for and heard. Her unforgettable, merry laugh will be missed dearly. Beth loved The Sound of Music and would often sing the songs to her children and grandchildren. A few of Beth’s “Favorite Things” included great conversations with interesting people, knowing her children were safe and happy, her first sip of coffee, days at the beach, going out to dinner (especially for a delicious prime rib!), a meaningful quote, a customized playlist, a good book and hosting family holidays.
Beth is survived by her children, Matthew Patrick Lavoie of Arlington, VA, Pattie Colleen Reid and her husband, Jesse of Stow, and step-daughter, Linda Lavoie and her wife, Mary Ann Germain of Worcester. She also leaves behind her siblings, Patty Gibson and her husband, Denny of Westport, CT, Michael Burke of Dallas, PA, and Chris Burke of NYC, along with her nephews, Jack, Max and Bo Gibson. She is predeceased by her brother, Steve Burke. She cherished being “Nana Beth” to her beloved grandchildren, Emmett Leo and Felicity Shea Reid.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 24th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Hopkinton, 57 Hayden Rowe St. www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com.
