Holliston – Arthur R. Long, Sr., 82, of Holliston, died Saturday, February 5,
2005 at the MetroWest Medical Center, Natick Campus.
He was the husband of Bertha (Nicholson) Long for 62 years.
Born in Somerville, MA, he was the son of the late Ormand and Caroline
(Comey) Long.
A graduate of Holliston High School, he was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and
served in both W.W.II and the Korean War; he was a member of the
American Legion of Holliston. He enjoyed woodworking in his home shop.
Mr. Long had worked as a salesman for many years for Sears and then for 22
years for Jordan Marsh prior to his retirement.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons, Arthur Long, Jr. of Uxbridge,
Timothy Long of Framingham, Dennis Long of Crossville, TN and Jeffrey
Long of Holliston; a daughter, Sandra Aronofsky of Holliston; brothers,
Richard of Rochester, NY, Charlie of Pocasset, MA and Bruce of Medway,
MA; sisters, Edith Demery of Dedham, Eleanor Massie of Westford, Bethel
Glascock of Millis and Becky Long, a missionary in Mexico; 10
grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late
David and Evelyn Long.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 8 at 11:00 a.m. at the
Chesmore Funeral Home, 854 Washington St., Route 16, Holliston
The Rev. Ernest Batten will officiate.
Burial will follow in Lake Grove Cemetery, Holliston with a full military
service.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be held on Monday, February 7 from
5:00 – 8:00 p.m.
