MARLBOROUGH – Angus Alvin White, Jr., 88, a former resident of Southborough for many years, died Thursday, June 18, 2009 at Metrowest Hospital – Natick after a long period of declining health.
Born in Boston, the son of Angus and Alice (Brick) White, Sr., he served in the CCC from 1939 to 1941 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. After leaving the Army, he spent several years in the boxing ring as an amateur lightweight, while he drove taxis. Later, he owned his own taxi company, and worked at various companies including, J.J. Nissen, Hodgman Rubber, and finally Cushing Hospital.
He leaves his children, Dennis P. White of Clinton, Maine and Lake Wales, Florida, and Robert G. White of Effingham Falls, New Hampshire; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Gloria Janet (Johnson) White and his brother John White.
A graveside service will be held at a later date.
