Holliston – Allan R. Bliss, 95, died Dec. 1, 2003 at the Masonic Home in Charlton, MA.
He was the husband of the late Edith L. (Lamont) Bliss who died in 1993.
Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late Ernest and Grace (Henry) Bliss.
He had been a resident of Holliston for 56 years prior to moving to the Masonic Home.
Mr. Bliss was retired from the Rockwell Corporation, formerly Draper Manufacturing Co.
where he had worked in the patent office.
He had served the Town of Holliston on the Planning Board from 1950 – 1951, School
Committee from 1951 -1956 and as auditor from 1956 to 1977.
Mr. Bliss had entered the Mount Hollis Lodge, A.F. & A.M. in Holliston in 1939, was
District Deputy Grand Master: Natick 23rd Masonic District, 1964-1965, Member of
Rose of Sharon Lodge in Charlton, member of the 15th Masonic District Past Masters
Association, Mt. Lebanon Royal Arch Chapter in Milford, Excellent High Priest, 1947 –
1948, Milford Council Royal and Select Masters, Milford Commandry #11, Aleppo
Shrine, Wilmington, Myrtle Chapter No. 33 Order of the Eastern Star, Holliston, Worthy
Patron 1949, 1953, 1961.
He is survived by his sons, David Bliss of Yulee, FL, Donald Bliss of Whittinsville and
Lawrence Bliss of Lowell,; sister, Dorothy Mannimon of FL, 13 grandchildren, 14 great
grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
The funeral will be held on Friday, Dec. 5 at 10:00 a.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home,
854 Washington St., Route 16, Holliston The Rev.
Andrea Wyatt will officiate. Burial will be private.
Calling hours are Thursday from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.
