Holliston-
Alice Marie Phipps, 72, of Holliston, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2013
at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston after a 10 year battle with
Ovarian Cancer. Born in Marlborough, she was the daughter of the late
William and Mabel (Bonin) Serocki. She was the wife of 48 years to William
Richard Phipps, Jr. of Holliston.
A lifelong Holliston resident, Alice had worked as an office manager at
Framingham Orthopedics and also worked at Framingham Sports Medicine.
After she raised her children, she went back to work at Framingham Union
Hospital. She was also a Sunday School teacher, a 4H Club Leader, and
enjoyed traveling with her family. She was an avid reader, and followed all the Boston sports teams. She crafted sterling silver jewelry as a hobby, and was a past member of the Nashua Mineral Society. She was a member of the Holliston Citizens Scholarship Organization. The Holliston Scholarship Foundation gives a scholarship to a Holliston graduate in her name each year.
Besides her husband, Alice leaves behind her children, Wendy Walker and
her husband Bradley of Uxbridge, William Phipps of Uxbridge, and
Christianne Phipps of Franklin; her siblings, Thomas Serocki and his wife
Carol of Medway, David Serocki and his wife Sharon of Hopkinton, Dennis
Serocki and his wife Donna of Holliston, William P. Serocki and his wife
Edna of Plymouth, and Sandra Maycock and her late husband Joseph of
Holliston. She also leaves behind 5 grandchildren, Hunter and Samantha of Uxbridge,
Payton, William and Brandon of Medway and her mother in law Louise A. Phipps of
Framingham.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 15th from 4-7p.m. at the Chesmore
Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com
A service in the funeral home will be held at 11:00a.m. on Tuesday, July
16th. A mass in her name will be said on Sunday, July 28th at 11:30a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Holliston. A celebration of Alice’s life will be led at a date to be announced in the fall of 2013. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dr. Joyce F. Liu Research Fund, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, YC 1420, 450 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA 02215
