Hopkinton – Alfred W. Wright, 76, died Saturday, January 20, 2007 at the
MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham.
He was the husband of Marjorie (Thompson) Wright and had celebrated their
49th anniversary in December.
Born in Hopkinton and a life long resident; he was the son of the late
Charles and Maxine (Smith) Wright.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy.
Mr. Wright had been the manager of Lumbertown, now Hopkinton Lumber, from
1969 until his retirement. Prior to that he had been a butcher and had worked
for the First National, Russell’s Market in Holliston and Kansas Beef.
He was a sportsman, enjoyed hunting, gardening and bird watching. He was a
long time member of the Woodville Rod and Gun Club.
Beside is wife, Marge, he is survived by his step-mother, Gladys S. Wright of
Hopkinton; son, Lee J. Wright of Westborough; daughters, Carol J. Pontremoli
and her husband, Michael, of Hopkinton, Linda A. Freeman of Hopkinton;
brother, Robert H. Wright and his wife, Rita, of North Carolina; sister, Maxine E.
Adams of Hopkinton; aunt, Annie May Schaefer of Hopkinton, grandchildren; Sean
and Ashley Pontremoli, Nicholas F. Snyer, Heather and Courtney Freeman all of
Hopkinton and Heather Sprague and her husband, Kent, of Oxford, MA. He also
leaves several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, January 24 at 9:30 a.m. at the Chesmore
Funeral Home, 57 Hayden Rowe Street, Hopkinton www.chesmorefuneralhome.com.
Burial will follow in the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery, Hopkinton.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Hopkinton Ambulance
Fund, 73 Main Street, Hopkinton 01748 or to the Friends of Hopkinton Senior
