Alfred L. Rifkin, 82, of Sherborn,MA died on May 3rd , 2008 at his home. He was born in Stafford, CT and was married to Buffy (Bertha Rose) Rifkin for 56 years. Besides his wife, he leaves behind one daughter, Bonnie Weigl and her husband Andy Weigl of Southborough, and two grandsons, Christopher and Dustin Weigl. He is predeceased by his brother Raymond Rifkin and sister Lucille Rifkin and is survived by 6 nieces and nephews and several cousins.

Mr. Rifkin, a World War II Veteran, began his long and successful career in Manila, Philippines, managing a mother-of-pearl button factory. His work continued to take him around the globe in a variety of executive sales and marketing positions for firms including Gerber Scientific and Burroughs Corporation. He also had a strong entrepreneurial spirit and founded several small businesses over the years. This served him well at Cognex Corporation of Natick, from which Mr. Rifkin retired several years ago as Vice President of International and Corporate Accounts. In retirement, Mr. Rifkin enjoyed a quiet home life with family and friends. He was especially devoted to his two grandsons. He will be fondly remembered.

Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, May 10th at Chesmore Funeral Home, 854 Washington St. Holliston, MA 01746. The Service will be held at 4pm following time for visitation by family and friends beginning at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Rifkin’s memory may be sent to the charity of your choice.
