Joseph "Squeek" Milan, 56, of Shrewsbury, died unexpectedly in a car accident on Friday, February 8, 2013. Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late Mary (Flanagan) and Joseph F. Milan. He was the husband of Debra (McCarthy) Milan of Shrewsbury.

Squeek was a town meeting member of Shrewsbury and Framingham, and was a friend of Bill W. for 28 years; and was instrumental in helping to heal, guide and counsel many others. He enjoyed his motorcycle as well as his music and the New England Patriots. Squeek was also known as the Mayor of Holliston and was a member of the Holliston VFW and American Legion. He was also active with The Ashland Fish and Game, where he was a board member and the past president.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Joseph C. Milan of Framingham; a brother, William “Buzzy” Milan and his wife Keven of Bellingham; his stepchildren, Lori Ortiz of Shrewsbury, Donna Tognacci of Framingham; 3 step-grandchildren, and his nephew Sean Milan and niece Ashley Jolicouer both of Bellingham. He is predeceased by a brother, James Milan.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 15, 2013 from 4-8pm at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, February 16th from 10am-1pm at the Eagles Club, 55 Park St. Framingham. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice; especially those charities associated with Veterans.

i am so sorry to hear of joe's passing. as his letter carrier, i knew something was amiss but i had been on vacation and didn't realize he had passed away. i truly enjoyed seeing him at the mailbox as he was always so pleasant and we would talk often. again, please accept my sincerest condolences on the passing of a really great guy.

Joe was a caring and tireless advocate for efficient operation of local government in Shrewsbury. Having known him as a student at Holliston High School to working with him in Shrewsbury, I feel that our community has suffered the loss of a dedicated citizen. May God grant him Eternal Rest and bring comfort to his family and loved ones.

Steve and I send our sincere sympathy to "Squeek's" family. He always treated us and our kids with kindness and respect and we will remember his great sense of humor. We are sorry he had to leave us too soon.

Deb, so sorry to hear about Squeek. I was fortunate enough to be at the "Barbershop" last Tuesday, and blessed enough to thank him for sharing. We have known this great man for many years, and this is a great loss to all who knew him. What can be said about the man, the friend, the father, and husband, who stood among all with a personality and heart bigger than anyone could every imagine. Deb and family. This is a shock. I can't imagine the effect on you all. Hearing him as the last speaker last Tuesday eve at the Barber Shop, and spending a few moments with him afterwards, will be a lasting memory for me. A truly wonderful person, amazing honesty, friendly manner, and a great smile, he is and will be truly missed. My prayers are with you all, and with him especially.

I always enjoyed seeing Squeek, shaking his hand at meetings, and hearing him speak. He had this captivating no-nonsense way about him that I admired. I will miss seeing you around Squeek. Rest in peace my friend!

This was a shock to find out about Squeek! He had a knack for making people laugh and always made them feel better about themselves. He was a true inspiration and I for one, am a better person for knowing him. He will be sorely missed and my thoughts and prayers are with his family!
