Holliston – Virginia Marie tufts, 79, died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002 at the MetroWest Medical Center in Natick.
She was the wife of Wesley M. Tufts, who died in 2001. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in February of 2001.
Born in Malden, she was the daughter of Dennis J. Hughes and Alice C. (McNally) Hughes.
She had lived in Holliston for more than 30 years.
Prior to her retirement in 1987, she was employed at Haemonetics in Braintree, MA. She loved to sew and made many gifts for her family and for employees at the dialysis center in Framingham where her husband received treatment.

Mrs. Tufts leaves her children, Robert tufts and his wife Susan of Victor, NY, Denise Blaney and her husband Patrick of Holliston, Janice Mutschler and her husband Leonard of Strafford, NH, Deborah Mark and her husband John of Holliston, grandchildren; Ryan Blaney, Shannon Serota, Shaun Blaney, Bryan Mark, Jacklyn Mark, Heidi Mutschler, and Victoria Mutschler, and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of Marjorie O’Malley, Donald Hughes, Robert Hughes and Warren Hughes.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 27 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Washington St., Holliston. Burial will follow in Lake Grove Cemetery, Holliston.
Calling hours, at the Chesmore Funeral Home, 854 Washington St., Route 16, Holliston, will be Monday from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.
