Hopkinton – Richard “Dick” E. Haynes, Sr., 76, died July 13, 2003 at his home following
a short illness.
He was the husband of Genevieve (Reid) Haynes. They had been married for 17 years.
Born in Hyannis, MA he was the son of the late Leslie and Elizabeth (Gibbs) Haynes.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He had joined at the age of 15 and served in both
W.W.II and the Korean Conflict. He had been awarded several commendations.
Mr. Haynes was an avid gardener and golfer, enjoyed politics, reading and antique
auctions.
Beside his wife he is survived by his children; Margaret A. Wall of Bellingham, Gloria J.
Ferrelli of Vero Beach, FL, Richard E. Haynes Jr., David E. Haynes, Deanna Lynn
Bodreau all of Milford and James M. Haynes of Uxbridge, a sister; Barbara Male of
Longmont, CO, 3 stepchildren, 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and several nieces
and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret A. (Hicks) Haynes who
died in 1981 and a son, Gerald W. Haynes who died in 1973.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, July 17 at 10:30 a.m. at the Chesmore Funeral
Home, 57 Hayden Rowe St., Hopkinton. The Rev.
Ernest Batten will officiate. Burial will follow in the family lot in Pine Grove Cemetery,
Milford. Calling hours will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to MetroWest Hospice, 85
Lincoln St., Framingham, MA 01702.
