Holliston-

Marilyn Ruth Campbell, 74, of Holliston, passed away peacefully in her home in the company of her family on Saturday, September 3rd, 2016, after an extended illness. Born in Walpole, on March 1, 1942, she was the second of two daughters of Roscoe and Charlotte Bowden. Marilyn is survived by her loving husband Kenneth W. Campbell of 48 years, daughter Andrea Wasylow and her husband Peter of Rehoboth, and son Matthew Campbell and his wife Eileen Resnick of Annandale, VA. Sister of Janice Aliff and her husband Jimmy of Teays, WV; sister-in-law Jeri Swenson of North Conway, NH; Brother-in-law Bruce Campbell and his wife Linda (Scamp) of Jackson, NH. Marilyn is also the loving grandmother of Ella, Ava, Brooke, and Maya. Marilyn remains a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Marilyn was an animal lover and had a quick, dry wit. She always made people laugh and taught her granddaughters the value of silliness. In high school Marilyn accidentally fell out of a first floor window (not a long drop) and didn’t bounce, hence the nickname “Bounce” which lasted through her college years. Ironically this event and her nickname gave her the notoriety to be elected Class Treasurer.

After graduating from Simmons College, Marilyn worked at Bird Company, Walpole in Administration for the sales department. Marilyn married Kenneth W. Campbell August 17, 1968 and they spent the first part of their marriage living in Colorado while Ken was on active duty with the U.S. Army. Despite many Army dependents looking for work, Marilyn was able to find two jobs while in Colorado. The first was doing psychological testing for the city of Colorado Springs and the second was for the Holly Gas Company.

While their children were in school, Marilyn worked in sales for the Waters Company (Milford) and Employment Options (Marlborough). Marilyn also studied Accounting at Framingham State leading to her work at Total Peripherals as half the accounting department, Shea Accounting in Holliston, later HLB Miller Wachman, LLP., and she also ran the entire payroll department for a personal financial planning office here in Holliston. Marilyn was an active member of the Holliston Mystery Club, and enjoyed years of exercise with Water Aerobics at Suburban Athletics Club. There she made many lifelong friends all of whom groaned at her style of puns and joke telling.

Marilyn loved books, crosswords, tennis, bridge, puzzles, and especially her granddaughters. She always made sure to bring a smile to everyone’s faces and her jokes and laughter will be missed.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 8th from 5-8p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com A service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, September 9th at 10:00a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations, in Marilyn’s memory, may be made to the American Lung Association.
