Marie Thorne, 74, of Holliston died Monday August 18, 2003 at the Tippett Hospice House in Needham after being diagnosed with cancer. Born in Framingham she is the daughter of the late Anthony and Susan Dontero. Marie was formerly of Ashland where she had graduated high school and then went onto Fisher Jr College of Boston. She had worked in Industrial Sales for Mt. Vernon Mills of Boston and then as manager of the New England Region and later had moved out to La Habra, CA to be Manager for the Western Region. In retirement she worked for the La Habra Chamber of Commerce. Moving to Holliston 5 years ago she worked for the state as an aide at the Holliston Senior Center helping to Schedule of the transportation for the Holliston Seniors. And she had worked part time at a bookstore

She is survived by 2 brothers Thomas A Thorne of Holliston and Robert E . Thorne of Ashland and a sister Barbara S. Frederick of La Habra CA. Marie is predeceased by a brother Randolph Thorne and sister Kathleen Phipps

Visitation hours will be held on both Wednesday, Aug. 20, and Thursday Aug 21, 2003 from 3 to 6 PM on both days at the Chesmore Funeral Home, 854 Washington St., (Rt. 126) Holliston. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday August 22, 2003 at 10:00 AM in Saint Mary’s Church of Holliston. Burial will follow at a future date in the family lot in St. John’s Cemetery in Hopkinton.
