Katherine Ann (McGilvray) McCumber, 47, of Holliston

HOLLISTON — Katherine Ann (McGilvray) McCumber, 47, of Holliston, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005, following a long illness.

She was the wife of Stephen McCumber for 19 years.

Born in Waltham, the daughter of the late Reece and Katherine (Moloney) McGilvray of Holliston, she was a physical fitness instructor for 23 years and had worked for Focus on Fitness of Framingham.

An active member of St. Mary’s Church in Holliston, she served as a CCD teacher, a member of WINGS, and worked with the marriage and baptism programs.

For the past three years, she was a field coordinator for the Holliston Youth Soccer Association and became known as the “field goddess.” Mrs. McCumber participated in the Pan Mass Challenge the past two years. She especially enjoyed watching her sons participate in youth and high school sports.

Besides her husband and mother, she leaves her sons, James S., Matthew S. and Mark S. McCumber, all of Holliston; her brothers, Reece E. McGilvray of Florida, David C. McGilvray of Franklin and Mark J. McGilvray of Holliston.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, Jan. 13, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary’s Church, Washington Street, Holliston.

Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Holliston.

Visiting hours are Wednesday, Jan. 12, from 3 to 9 p.m., at Chesmore Funeral Home (www.chesmorefuneralhome.com), 854 Washington St., Rte. 16, Holliston.
