Hopkinton-John K. Van Dyke, 97, died November 19, 2005 at Milford Regional
Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Carolyn (Murphy) Van Dyke
who died in 1967. Born in Colfax, Iowa, he was the son of the late Benjamin
and Beatrix (Moore) Van Dyke.
A resident of Hopkinton for four years, he was formerly of Oak Park,
Illinois. He was a graduate of Drake University and received his Masters
Degree from Columbia University.
He was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa and the A. T. O. fraternity. Mr. Van
Dyke was the head of the math department at the Oak Park River Forest High
School, was a hospital volunteer, member and treasure of the Oak Park
Methodist Church and supported many local charities. He was an avid
gardener and bridge player. He is survived by his daughters, Joan Frederick
and her husband, Tom, of MA and Susan Couture and her husband, Adam, of
Hopkinton, MA; grandchildren, Carolyn, Amy, John, Joshua and Jennifer; and
great grandchildren, Cora, Leila and Tate. Funeral services will be held at
the convenience of the family; a memorial service will be held in the
