Hopkinton – Jeanette M. Ellsworth, 87, died Nov. 24, 2002 at the Oak Knoll Healthcare
Center in Framingham.
She was the wife of the late Edwin J. Ellsworth who died in 1985.
Born in Paughkeepsie, NY she was the daughter of the late Russell and Bertha (Parks)
Maxfield. She was raised in Wassaic, NY and moved to Hopkinton in 1945. She was a
graduate of Amenia High School, class of 1933, in Amenia, NY, graduated from Wood
Purinton Business School, class of 1935, in Poughkeepsie, NY and received her Library
Certificate from the University of New Hampshire in 1965. Mrs. Ellsworth was a
volunteer staff member of the Hopkinton Public Library from 1955 – 1958, assistant
librarian from 1958 to 1972 and library director from 1972 until her retirement in 1991.
She served as a Registrar of Voters for the Town of Hopkinton and had been a member
and Chairperson for the Hopkinton Council on Aging. She was a member of the
Hopkinton Lions Club, Ashland Lioness Club, Brampton Circle Club where she served as
treasurer, Order of the Eastern Star and Golden Age Club.
Mrs. Ellsworth is survived by her sons; James and his wife Carol of Framingham, Russell
and his wife Mary Lou of Hopkinton, Ned and his wife Betsy Davis of Pepperell and Jay
and his wife Linda of Millis, grandchildren Eric and his wife Lisa of Hickory, NC, Alicia
Dwyer and her husband Keith of Somerville, Stacey of Allston, Leigh Gagin and her
husband David of Waltham and Jason of Millis, great grand children; Dylan and Keali
Dwyer of Somerville.
The funeral will be held Monday, Dec. 2 at 8:00 p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home, 57
Hayden Rowe St., Hopkinton. Cremation will follow. Calling hours will be held prior to
the funeral service from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m.
A memorial celebration will be held in the Spring at the Hopkinton Public Library.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations in Mrs. Ellsworths memory be made
to either the Hopkinton Public Library Building Fund, 13 Main St., Hopkinton 01748, The
Friends of the Hopkinton Seniors, 18 Main St., Hopkinton, 01748 or to the Brampton
Circle Club, 100 Davis Rd., Hopkinton, 01748.
