Hopkinton-
James John Smith, 58, of Hopkinton died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, April 16, 2005, at his home after an illness.

He was divorced from Arlene F. (Deletti) Smith

Born in Framingham, he is the son of William J. Smith of Hopkinton and the late Mary C. (Hancock) Smith

He grew up in Hopkinton, Was educated in local schools, and graduated from Marion High School. He had worked as an electronics technician and lived in Hopkinton his entire life.

He loved cooking, computers, and was an amateur radio operator. He was very devoted to his family.

He served with the U.S. Navy and was a Vietnam War veteran, Honorably discharged with the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his son , William P. Smith of Hopkinton, and his daughter, Rebecca A. Smith of Worcester.

Visitation will be private. A public Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. John’s the Evangelist Church of Hopkinton on Wednesday April 20, 2005 at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:00 pm Arrangements are under the direction of the Chesmore Funeral Home of Hopkinton. www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com
