Holliston-

James “Jim” Joseph Daly 83 of Holliston died Thursday April 15, 2004 at Saint Patrick’s Manor of Framingham. He was the son of the Late James A. and Mary (Kehoe) Daly and husband of the Late Jean C. (Masterson) Daly.

An Army WW II veteran he had received a purple heart, Bronze arrowhead, Distinguished Unit Badge, and three bronze battle stars. He was part of the first wave on D-day in the invasion of Omaha Beach. Jim was also a disabled American Veteran and had worked for GTE research lab for 30+ years involved with the early research and development of fiber optics. He was a member of the GTE 25 year club, Saint Mary’s Church and a former Knights of Columbus member.

He is survived by a son James Joseph Daly Jr. and his wife Barbara of Holliston, 2 Grandchildren; Jane and Colin Daly of Holliston, 2 Brothers Francis Daly and his wife Dorothy of Albertson, NY and Bernard Daly and his wife MaryAnn of Banning, CA and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation hours will be on Sunday April 18, 2004 from 5 to 8 pm at the Chesmore Funeral Home, 854 Washington St. (Rt. 16) Holliston www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com. A funeral mass will take place in Saint Mary’s Church of Holliston on Monday April 19, 2004 at 10 am. Burial will follow in Saint Mary’s Cemetery. Donation may be made to the Michael J.
