Hopkinton – Helen M. McCarty, 80, died unexpectedly October 19, 2004 at
her home.
She was the wife of the late Clyde W. McCarty who died in 1994.
Born in Masontown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Wallace and
Barbara (Ewart) McCann.
She had been a resident of Hopkinton for 30 years.
Mrs. McCarty was a dedicated volunteer for the Town of Hopkinton. Among
the organizations she helped are the Hopkinton
Senior Center, Hopkinton Food Pantry, St. John the Evangelist Church
Mustard Seed Soup Kitchen and St. John’s Rummage sales. Known to all as
a jolly person, she was usually to be found helping at special events such as
the Hopkinton Veteran’s Appreciation dinners, Senior Center dinners and
Friends of the Hopkinton Senior Citizens fund raisers. Mrs. McCarty also
enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and jig saw puzzles.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia McCarty of Bradford, MA; sisters,
Betty Jenkins of PA, Margaret Avery of PA, Mary Lou Kantes of West
Virginia; 4 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was predeceased
by her daughter, Judith, and a brother and sister.
The funeral will be held on Sunday, Oct. 24 at 2 p.m.
at the Grant R. Townsend Funeral Home, Masontown, PA. Burial will follow
in the family lot in Greendale Cemetery, Masontown, PA.
Calling hours will be held in Masontown on Saturday, Oct. 23 from 2-4 & 7-9
p.m.
A memorial in Hopkinton will be scheduled at a later date.
Donations in Mrs. McCarty’s memory may be made to the Friends of the
Hopkinton Seniors, 18 Main St., Hopkinton, MA 01748.
