Holliston – Edgar L. George, 84, died Nov. 8, 2002.
He was the husband of the late Margaret E. (Sullivan) George who died in 1999.
Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Edgar H. and Fannie (Danner) George.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, served during W.W.II in the Pacific and with the
forces in Normandy and was called back to duty and served in the Korean War. He was a
member of the American Legion Post 18 for 48 years, was a member and past commander
of the VFW post 2017 in Dedham, a was a life member of the DAV and Chapter 90.
Mr. George had been the assistant director of the Brookline Housing Authority and also
served as the Veterans Agent in Dedham for 15 years.
He is survived by his son; retired Chief of Police William Henry George and his wife Ellen
of Holliston, daughter; Margaret Ann George of Newton, brothers; Henry C. George of
CA and James F. George of W. Bridgewater, sister; Mildred Lane of Ohio, two
grandchildren; Matthew George and his wife Laney of Natick and Sandra O’Neil and her
husband Timothy of Millis and three great grandchildren; Halle, Kristen and Matthew.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 10:00 a.m. at St.
Mary’s Church, Washington St., Holliston. Burial will follow in the family lot in
Brookdale Cemetery in Dedham.
Calling hours, at the Chesmore Funeral Home, 854 Washington St., Route 16, Holliston,
will be Monday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Mary’s Building Fund, 8 Church St.,
Holliston, MA 01746.
