Christine (Young) Wright

Chris Wright, 60, of Holliston MA., and New London N.H. passed away on October 15, 2018, at home, surrounded by her loving family. Chris had battled AL Amyloidosis, a rare blood disease, for the past ten years, but spent almost every day of that caring about her family, her friends, and her pets. Despite this disease, she was able to travel the world with her husband and children and she cherished every minute of life with a passion for adventure. Chris was an accomplished tennis player, skier, and gardener who loved to be outdoors with her family.

Chris is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 33 years, Stephen F. Wright. She was the love of his life and his best friend. She is also survived by her children and their spouses; Melissa Wright (Conor Brady) of Salt Lake City, Utah, Abigail Duval (Martin Duval) of Cape Elizabeth, ME, and Stephen T. Wright (Aislinn Shea) of Westwood, MA. Chris is predeceased by her father, Thomas U. Young and is survived by her mother, Sally Young of Kennett Square, PA., her brother Tim Young of Christiana, PA., and her sisters, Sally Yacka of Kennett Square, PA, and Debbie Thornton and her husband Todd of Cape May, N.J. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews whom she enjoyed hosting on Little Lake Sunapee in New London, N.H.

Chris was born in New Haven, CT., and spent her youth living in PA, CA, and MO, until moving to Brussels, Belgium during her high school and college years. She graduated from Michigan State University and proceeded to work in the cruise industry both as a travel agent and then as a Sales Manager for Holland America Cruise lines. This is where she developed her love of travel and adventure. Chris moved to Paris, France joining Steve (IBM) with their three children for three years. For her third international assignment, she and Steve moved to Bratislava, Slovakia which served as the perfect home base for travel across Europe, Asia, and Africa.

Her most proud accomplishment was the success of her three children. From Chris, they learned fortitude, compassion, giving, and that family is always the highest priority in life. She cherished her family with every ounce of her being. She also leaves an amazingly large community of friends. These friends were an incredible support for her as she battled her disease and sustained her in her most difficult periods. The many visits, the heart felt cards, and the delicious meals were all a testament to the love her friends had for Chris.

Chris was loved by her medical team, especially at the Boston University Amyloidosis Center. They looked at her not only as a patient, but as a dear friend. Her strength was an inspiration to all who met her. However, Chris should not be remembered by her battle but by her friendships, her beautiful smile, her zest for life, and her love of family. She leaves a great legacy that we can all learn from. She will be very sadly missed every minute of every day, but we know she watches over us as we strive to live the life she hoped for us.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 26th from 5:00-8:00 pm  at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. (Rt. 16) A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 27th at 1:00 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Holliston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Amyloidosis Foundation at amyloidosis.org or the Boston University Amyloidosis Center at bu.edu/amyloid/donate in memory of Christine Wright.
