STUART, Fla. — Charles H. Gutman, died Monday, Oct. 11, 2004, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital after a period of declining health.
He was the husband of the late Margaret Lyons Gutman. They were married for 60 years.
Mr. Gutman retired from Long Island Railroad. In his retirement lived in Stuart, Fla., and Colchester, Vt. Most recently he lived in Hopedale.
Mr. Gutman was involved in the Boy Scouts of America, St. Joseph’s Church in Stuart and numerous civic associations. He was a sport fisherman, an avid reader and a world history buff.
He leaves three children, Mary Alice Breinlinger and her husband, Mary, of Holliston, John Gutman and his wife, Patricia, of Wilmot, N.H., and Loretta Wild and her husband, Steven, of Holden; seven grandchildren, James Breinlinger, Amy Breinlinger Tibbert, Eric Breinlinger, Catherine Gutman Scanlon, Jennifer Gutman Phalen and Christopher and Mark Wild; 10 great-grandchildren; and family member Barbara Greck.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Oct. 16, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary’s Church, Holliston.
Burial will be at a later date at St. Michael’s College, Winooski, Vt.
There are no calling hours.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Chesmore Funeral Home, Holliston.
Instead of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Boy Scout Troop 14, St. Mary’s Church, Holliston.
