Bill (WEX) Wechsler

What a long and winding road it has been. Bill, of Holliston, passed away on November 25, 2018, completing his almost 3-year journey with ALS. He was 65. Bill leaves his loving wife of 34 years, Christine Brumbach, and 2 sons, Michael (wife, Megan Keenan and granddaughter, Lucy), of Brooklyn, and Stephen (wife, PJ Allen) of New York City. Bill was the son of the late Arthur and Joey Wechsler; loving brother of Fran (Wechsler) Chargar; uncle of Jessica and Etyan Sosnovich and Alyssa Chargar. He is also survived by cousins, extended family and dear friends all over the country.

Bill, known as “Wex” to his students at Holliston High School, retired from counseling in 2017. He was proud to have touched the lives of so many students and will be remembered for his compassion, empathy, humor and love for the Beatles. Bill created a safe and open space for anyone who sought his help. Bill was a life-long Yankees fan having grown up across from Yankee Stadium. (We forgave him for that!) He graduated from Smith College School of Social Work and devoted his life to counseling children, teenagers and adults.  He valued spending time with his own family, whether at a Bar Mitzvah, wedding or holiday. He will be deeply missed by us all. As he would have said, “WEX OUT.”

A memorial service will be held Thursday, November 29th, at 3PM at Holliston Upper Town Hall. In lieu of flowers, we are asking that donations be sent to Mass General Hospital to support ongoing efforts to find treatments and a cure for ALS. Donations can be made in Bill’s honor at giving.massgeneral.org/wechsler. Arrangements are under the care of the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston.
